HLC Billing

SCHOOL PAYMENT: Parents are asked to pay monthly tuition directly to Haugland Learning Center. Contact the HLC administration for information about Sallie Mae student loans available to all parents, if needed. A payment schedule for the current school term may be obtained via the administration office.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT: HLC is registered with the Ohio Department of Education to allow families to receive tuition reimbursement via the Autism Scholarship program. The scholarship can be somewhat confusing, and this section is meant for clarification.
The first step is to have your child approved for the scholarship. Contact the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) to begin this process. Once your child is approved, you will receive a letter from ODE with a start date on the bottom. HLC can begin billing ODE for services from this date. Please provide a copy of this letter to HLC.
With the approval letter, a W-9 form is included. The form has to be filled out by the child's parents and returned to ODE. ODE will not issue checks unless they have the completed W-9 on file.
Billing for services takes place quarterly on September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30. The maximum allowance per year is $20,000. If your child starts during the school year, the amount is pro-rated accordingly.
HLC will provide parents with an invoice, as well as a "Statement of Cost" form from ODE on a quarterly basis, according to the ODE billing schedule. Parents are asked to sign this form, and HLC will submit it to ODE for reimbursement.
ODE will send a check to the parent for the amount listed in the "Statement of Cost" within 1-2 weeks of the billing period. The cost of the program does not exceed the amount allocated by the Autism Scholarship.
The cycle is repeated every quarter until parents choose to cancel services with HLC or find another provider. If you have any questions, please contact the HLC administration.
